You sound like an A-rider to me (maybe which need a bit of encouragement)
Just stick with the A-group @Anvar If I have time on Saturday morning I join, I know I will get dropped at some stage, but I try to stick every time for a few more minutes. I found that this actually improved my riding a lot. Saturday mornings are meant to be training rides, so people try to struggle... Don't feel guilty to "slow" people down.
Also join the A-ride on Sunday, the power is on average slightly lower than the Saturday group and you have the challenge of the distance.

Yes you are welcome @Ellie-Hardy. Just be at the park at 8:25. I am not sure if @alexd still sees this message and can send you the info email but just turn up with bike and appropriate clothes

@prankin The rides are self-organizing and the route changes every Sunday. Sometimes people post their route in advance on the forum but this is not always the case. On Sunday we will gather, count the amount of people and ask for volunteers to lead a ride (we aim to have groups of about 10-12 people). The volunteers will propose a ride (distance, speed) and people can pick their favorite. There are normally short and long rides so ETA varies from 12:00 to 15:00. In your case you should pick a shorter ride, but if you want to be sure to be home on time I would encourage you to prepare a ride which you can lead and just step forward when a call is made for rides. I am sure you will find more people in favor of a short ride.

@Ellie-Hardy keep an eye for dropouts. If not you are able to, join a C-ride on Sunday, just be a bit earlier to get some quick instructions about signs etc. I do stimulate you to join the next intro ride, even if you joined the C-ride as we spent much more time on good practice in this ride.

Hi @Anvar
As Tom mentioned you can join the C-ride. However I would still strongly encourage to do the intro ride in May, as here you learn about good group riding. Riding with the C's will give you a nice workout and will show some of the basics just by looking at what happens, but it is really essential to know all the tips, trics and sign shown in the intro ride, both for safety (of yourself and the group) and to be able to go at larger speeds. When riding in a group being predictable (by sticking to the rules) is more important than your general solo-ride fitness.

It would be great if you can help out @MattyP . I will add you to the intro ride huddle. Thanks again.

Dear @user53719
What experience do you have from group riding? We have an intro ride this Saturday morning, where we show good practice of group riding, while doing a 45 km ride. This is the best place to start when you have only done solo rides before. At the moment the ride is full, but keep a look at the website as often people have to cancel their place due to illness/work.
About out weekend rides
Our saturday rides (regent park training) starts at 8am at the zoo entrance
Our sunday rides (multiple distances, speeds) start at 8:30 am at Whittington Park. -
@Stevek You are only allowed to post on the forum once you are a member. Sometimes there is a short delay between the membership and the links within the forum @The_Other_Rob can you see what is going on?
What do you mean with your comment on the C-ride?
-
You are on the list @dlove See you on Saturday.
For those that still want to join this intro session. At the moment all places are taken, but often some people have to cancel last minute so keep and eye to this forum and see if a place becomes available (max 24).
Because of safety, we only accept people on the ride that have registered in advance!

great. see you on the 14th @Owen

looking forward to riding together @Pete_Con

Dear @Marco ,
Hopefully you had a good ride today. Also have a look at the intro ride where we show good group riding skills. http://forum.islington.cc/events/583/#comment12113430

Sorry for the (too) late reply @bikoutelis. But yes, you are welcome to join the C group. In the winter we do ask all members to have mudguards fitted.
If you want a refreshment of group riding (and meet some members), join the into ride.
-
dear @Buzzbuzzbuzz
I would strongly encourage the intro ride, as it shows you all the aspects, let you practice it, and you get personal feedback.
However if you feel confident and you can't wait you can join the 8 am this Saturday, come 10 minutes earlier and ask someone to give you a quick short intro. If you do this option, I would still encourage to join the intro ride, as then you get the idea behind the rules and more practice. Good group riding skills are essential for club rides and pleasure in riding.

@PRC @yoyodub good to hear you both had a good experience.
PS although you have experienced a C-ride, I would still encourage to participate in the intro ride. During this ride you have much more time to discuss all the little tweaks of group riding, and also build on your confidence.

I don't know why the personal message went wrong, but I am paging @RichardM @Ali @The_Other_Rob, who are organizing this event.
I haven't seen you riding at Saturdays (often clashes with a race for me), but in general people think their role in 'slowing down' is much greater than it actually is.
Saturday is to my opinion the best place for a 'almost-A rider'. Try your best for i.e. 20-30 minutes, skip on ore two laps to catch some breath and join for another x minutes. Every time you increased the amount you were able to hold on, you can be proud of your self.
