Hi Dean, if you haven't already done so, you'll need to sign up to an Intro Ride or a Group Skills session. After you've done that, I'll be able to approve your membership application.
You can sign up here:
https://forum.islington.cc/microcosms/1305/
https://forum.islington.cc/microcosms/1304/Just so you know, we don't take the money from your account until I tick that box that says 'accept'.
If you need any more info, feel free to drop me an email on [email protected]
Thanks,
Sally

Thanks for signing up to this group skills session.
As this session is now full, if you are no longer able to attend this session PLEASE can you remove yourself from the attendance list. It's not fair on those who couldn't get a space on a skills session to find out that only half the people turned up on the day. We also need to manage the number of volunteers needed for the session (simply put: if the ride isn't full, we don't need to recruit as many volunteers to lead it).
Also, if you haven't already done so, can you change your user name to something more memorable than 'User12345', makes it a lot easier to know who's who!
Thanks,
Sally

All happens semi-automatically. You renew, when I get around to it (usually Monday and Thursday evenings, although I was babysitting last night so it ended up being today!) I process the application and you're good to go! You should have received an email from me earlier today but let me know if you have any other questions or any issues.
-
Hi, it's easier if you do this ride before you put in your application as it means your membership will get approved as soon as you apply. You can submit an application beforehand but it won't get approved (and no money will be taken) until you've done either an intro ride or a group skills session.
As Stephen mentions, you can also join along with 3 club rides before becoming a member, to make sure it's the right fit for you. For insurance purposes these are limited to our Sunday rides only (the intro and group skills sessions are separate to these 3 rides and you can come along to as many as you'd like!).
If you have any other questions just ask here or feel free to email me: [email protected]
Thanks.

Sunday rides don't count, no matter how well the rider is briefed.
In order for them to start doing so we would need to take a register at the start of the ride and for it to be sent over to me so I have an 'audit trail' for new members. That's a lot of admin to ask of the ride leaders, especially as it's the same people volunteering to lead the 'new to the club' rides week in week out.

Hi Kata, I've not approved your membership yet as I do this on a Monday and Thursday and you must have applied after I'd finished last night. When you get confirmation of your application I'll also grant you access to the forum. I'd do this for you now but I'm away for the weekend and sadly can't approve your membership/give you forum access without my laptop.
Look out for an email from me and once you get that you should be good to go.
Thanks.

The event is now fully booked and we don't operate a waiting list as such, it's just a case of popping back when you can to see if a space has opened up.
If you are down to attend this session and can no longer make it, please can you click that you won't be attending, this frees up a space for someone else to come along in your place.
Thanks.

Hi Richard,
The timings are as stated above (08:30 from Whittington Park) Speed will be dependent on the riders on the day so that will dictate the return time.
We don't post the route in advance to avoid people turning up on the day who haven't signed up for the ride (these sessions get fully booked in advance).
Any other questions just shout.

Hi Benjamin,
Can you check it again now? If it's still not working, can you drop me an email ([email protected]) so I've got your email address and can re-run your permissions.
Thanks,
Sally

Hi Ross,
We ask that everyone wanting to become a member attends one of the designated intro sessions. It's a way of ensuring that all of our riders are at the same level of understanding when it comes to safety on the roads. I appreciate that it's probably just a tick boxing exercise for you, but we have a process that needs to be followed. I think there's a skills session at Regents Park on Thursday (14th) if I'm not mistaken? I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong! We can get you processed straight away after the session.
Thanks.

Hi @RossFinlay and @HenryL, still on holiday in cape town (back on weds when normality can resume) but wanted to check to see if either of you have attended an intro ride or skills session - if so can you let me know the date so I can check this with my records. If you haven't attended one of these you can find details of the next ones in the clipping in section of the forum. So far I can't find you on my list so I'm sorry if I've missed you off. Normally I'd have sent this via email but as is explained in my post above - It's been a bit trickier than I'd envisaged!

Hi Omer,
Yes you will have to re-do the skills sessions or intro ride I'm afraid. These last for 6 months (in the same way that someone leaving the club would have to do the skills session/intro ride if their membership lapsed beyond 6 months).
I have a spreadsheet of those who've attended all the sessions but people are removed after 6 months has lapsed and as they say... If you're not on the list ;).
I'd normally have sent you an email explaining this by now but I'm on holiday in Cape Town at the moment and our internet seems to only work for about 5 mins at a time so have been trying to process membership stuff whilst I've been sat in a cafe with Wi-Fi! Fun and games!

As this ride is now full, just posting a friendly note to say if you can't make the ride on Saturday any longer, please give up your space so others can take your spot and we can accurately judge how many volunteers we need for the ride.
Also, if your user name is something along the lines of 'user12345' please can you change it to something a little more memorable to help us identify you on the day.
Thanks,
Sally -
Hi Petra,
You can find details of all our upcoming rides in these sections of the forum:

Hi Nick,
Yes, I'm afraid you will have to do it again, our Group Skills and Intro ride sessions are valid for 6 months. You can find details of all our upcoming rides here:
https://forum.islington.cc/microcosms/1305/
https://forum.islington.cc/microcosms/1304/(I'd also suggest you take your email address off the original post, it'll stop you getting any unwanted spam from companies who scour the internet for email addresses to bombard).

Sadly I'm not, it's my birthday so I'm off for a lazy weekend in the Cotswolds. If you want an easier to follow route then I'd advise heading to Regent's Park, going through Kentish Town and up to Tufnell Park.
Edited post as actually this looks much easier! Will probably give this a try next time I'm heading to Whittington!

No problem at all, late notice is much better than no notice!
