Hi Alex,
You're on the June 2017 thread. 2018 June is here - currently fully subscribed but people do drop out so keep checking back through the week to see if a spot opens up. -
-
Hi Cat,
As far as I'm aware there aren't any plans to hold any Intro rides outside of the usual schedule. I'd suggest you keep checking back on this page to see if a slot opens up as people often drop out before the event. Looks like @ChrisDove managed to bag himself a spot this way! -
Hi, you are welcome to come on a club ride: we meet in Whittington Park off the Holloway Road for an 8:30 start. Let us know that you are new to the club - the question will normally be asked by the "compere" - and we would normally recommend starting with a C ride.
Guests can ride with us up to 3 times then you would be required to join the club to continue riding. Prospective members have to complete either one of our Intro Rides or Group Skills rides as a pre-condition to gaining membership - you can sign up for these on the Forum. See you Sunday!

Hi Chris,
Yes, you would need to do either an Intro ride or otherwise a Group Skills session (usually Thursdays or Saturday on the Inner Circle of Regents Park.) Both of these are sign-up events and can fill up quickly. That said, people often drop out at the last minute so worth keeping an eye on to nab an available spot. We limit the numbers on these rides for safety. -

Hi @MattJ124 currently this event is full but worth checking back on this thread between now and May as people may drop out and leave a space open.

Hi @Ty,
If you have done the introductory ride then you are able to join the club - you aren't required to do a Group Skills ride as well, though it is a good way to brush up on your skills. Ideally the membership secretary will have been given your name by the Introductory Ride Leader that day (worth checking) and your application can go ahead. We look forward to seeing you on the road! -
You can come along as a guest to our regular Sunday club rides without needing to register (or one of our introductory rides if places are available - this does require registration as places are limited). We meet at the Holloway Road entrance to Whittington Park, N19 4RS, for an 8.30am depart. We welcome new riders to join us as a guest for up to three rides of these rides. After that, you’ll have to become a member to continue riding with us.
Bring:
Stuff to fix your bike - a pump, puncture repair kit, spare inner tubes and tools. Plus snacks and water to keep you going. Wear appropriate clothing for the weather and have a set of lights for early morning/evening ridesIntroduce yourself, let people know you're new to the club and someone will make sure you're looked after. We would recommend you ride with a C-group as your first ride with the club, unless you are already comfortable with the rigour of a B or A ride.

Hi Jonathan,
You're not showing on the list currently. Sometimes people drop out before the ride and hopefully then un-tick themselves so if you're keen to come on this ride then check back here periodically and see if there are any spaces. If a space becomes free (i.e. its not showing as 17/17) then click the "I'm attending" button and you're in.
Note we don't operate a queuing system so if a space opens up it is taken on a "fastest finger first" basis. -
The Intro Rides I've led have arrived at the Ninevah cafe finish point around 11am at which point we have a short debrief that you should attend. Note that if the group is slower or there are punctures, this could conceivably be a midday finish so you should plan accordingly. I can't speak definitively on behalf of the club but I think it would be expected for you to finish the whole ride - at least to the cafe finish point - rather than splitting off part way round the ride.

Hi Engin,
We limit the number of riders on these rides for safety and so they are manageable for the ride leaders. If a spot opens up and your friend can sign up and claim the spot then great. If not, we would have to say no for the reasons above and also to be fair to the other folks on the 'waiting list' hoping that a spot will open up.Your friend would, of course, be welcome to join an ordinary Sunday ride as a guest rider, just not the Introductory Ride. If you decide to join him on an ordinary ride, please remember to un-tick yourself from this ride so your place can be used.

Hi Mira,
The November intro ride is currently full but people do drop out so worth monitoring the thread in case a space opens up. There is a December ride too -
Good ride today folks. I was impressed with the use of hand-signals and the group riding generally. A few pointers to my group, though I'm sure they apply generally:
Communication: don't forget to pass calls up and down the group - there should be echoes of "change one" and suchlike so everyone knows whats going on.
Awareness: keep an eye on the rest of the group - close gaps either by easing off or speeding up. It will become second-nature after a while.
Responsibility: though a ride may have an actual or nominal leader, we are all responsible for ensuring the pace is comfortable, that no-one is dropped after a hill and that we represent the club in a positive way to each other as well as to other road users. Speak up!
The club is only as good as its volunteers. Once you've done a few club rides, consider leading one, helping out at an Intro ride, marshalling at a club event. If there are riders without a ride or a leader, be the person that steps up.
I look forward to seeing you all out on the road. In club kit!

Consider yourself on it. We don't operate a queue system for this ride, so if a space does open up, it's "fastest finger first". Nul points if that reference is too old for you.
Also, please amend your forum name from user1234 to something more recognisable as it helps us & the membership secretary Eva when processing club applications.

Keep an eye out here

Good ride today folks - nice formation riding, felt pretty safe, compact and well into "B" pace. One takeaway is to pass all calls back down the group so we're all informed.
I've passed your names (my group) to the membership secretary. Could ?Lucy Green (riding the nice Liv Envie) confirm her name/forum name to @EvaJ
See you all out on the road!
Also - anyone who still has a "user12345" forum name, can you please update to a more identifiable name. Thanks!
