Looking forward to meeting you all on Saturday. If your username is user12345 etc., it would be helpful if you could change it to something closer to your actual name - this will make processing your membership application easier if you decide to join. The weather forecast is a bit damp for Saturday. The ride will go ahead so please come prepared! The meeting place is outside as advertised. If you are earlier you may want to join some/a lot of the club in the cafe beforehand.

Well done to the 7 of you who came on this morning's ride. I hope you enjoyed it and, if so, will join the club. Any further questions, please ask. You are now able to join the club and feel free to join a Group Skills session if you want to learn more about group riding but its not compulsory.
For the 2 people who dropped out at the last moment and the 8 people who signed up but didn't turn up, this is really unhelpful and selfish of you, especially as I count at least 5 people above who wanted to come but couldn't sign up because the ride was full.

Good morning, I am one of the ride leaders for tomorrow. I hope you are all looking forward to the ride.
I have also included a link to the ICC Group Riding Guide. If people could read this beforehand it will save standing around before we start cycling!
Now that this ride is full, and others are keen to join, if you can no longer attend PLEASE remove yourself from the event. Just click 'can't make it' at the top of the page so that your space can be freed up for someone else.
Also if those of you who's usernames are user12345 etc. could change them to something more memorable that would be great and ease admin should you decide to join.

They are already announced https://forum.islington.cc/microcosms/1305/ but the one a week tomorrow is fully booked. People often drop out at the last moment so worth keeping an eye out if you free

Yes, you'd certainly be welcome and I'm sure you'd be fine. Most people ride on drop handlebar bikes for club rides but there's no rule to this effect and it will just mean that you have to work a bit harder. Hybrids aren't necessarily heavier than similarly priced road bikes, so its only the more upright riding position and consequent increased air resistance that well hold you back.

just to add to what +SallyB has said, we ask as above that you can ride for "25 miles at an average speed of at least 12 mile per hour, with several steep hills and only brief stops" so as long as you are confident of doing that you'll be fine. People do sometimes want to check the route beforehand but we don't release it for the reasons Sally has stated but you can test yourself over any route or do some laps of Regents Park.
As one of the ride leaders I look forward to meeting you on the day

Good morning, I am one of the ride leaders for Saturday. I hope you are all looking forward to the ride. Please dress appropriately, especially given that we will ride at the pace of the slowest rider so you may want to wear/bring an extra layer.
I have also included a link to the ICC Group Riding Guide. If people could read this beforehand it will save standing around in the cold before we start cycling!

Or you can do the intro ride as an alternative to Group skills - there are still places next Saturday https://forum.islington.cc/events/4468/#comment14581744 It is more of a time commitment than Group Skills but a chance to get out of London.

Yes, it will so please dress appropriately if you are still coming. If you decide not to come, please let us know, as we may not need the full complement of volunteers if a few people drop out.
I have also included a link to the ICC Group Riding Guide. If people could read this beforehand it will save standing around in the rain before we start cycling!

If anyone can't make this or can't wait (you could even do both!) there are plenty of spaces left on this Saturday's Group Skills ride - https://forum.islington.cc/events/4326/#comment14504505

+ElizabethB in addition to what Sally says you could try:
- Most Councils (and you could try where you work as well as where you live if you have problems) will do some free 1:1 cycling confidence training. I did 2 2 hour sessions with my children a few years ago and they were really good - first one was in a park, second one we did our school run. I think they will take you on your commute and give you advice about routes/scary junctions etc.
- You could try LCC as there local groups often do slower/shorter rides.
As Sally says, Regent's Park is good, though the gates open to cars at 6.45am and its obviously dark at this time of year. I suppose the velopark road circuit is another option though there are often some very fast cyclists there.

It looks like +Ted 's space is already taken. If anyone else plans to drop out please do so quickly as the ride is fully booked. It looks like we may have some rain towards the end so please come prepared, i.e. rain jacket and mudguards.

Hi to everyone signed up for this ride and to anyone still loitering in the waiting area! I'm going to be one of your ride leaders on Saturday.
You will be aware that the Intro ride, as well as being a "try before you buy" event, is also one of the mandatory rides for those wanting to join the club. We’ve had quite a few dropouts on recent Intro Rides which is frustrating both to those who who find the ride fully subscribed as well as for the volunteers who get up early to lead these events. The ride is full so if you are not coming, please drop out above so someone else can sign up. It looks as if it should be dry so you have no excuse not to turn up.
Also, please change your name from userxxxx to something more personal to aid processing of your membership.
They are generally on the first Saturday of the month - see https://forum.islington.cc/microcosms/1305/
