I saw this in the press the other day and it looks intriguing. I'm not sure what us road cyclists would think of it though as we never wear rucksacks and most of us are averse to wearing more than is required on our back. Looks great for commuting though!

This is what I am thinking. What about for training at night? What do you guys wear currently?

I think it's great for commuting but I can't see club roadies or training roadies ever using it.
As Laura says, weight is more of a focus, so lights tend to be small and lightweight. Also, while I have not used it, this design of light could interfere with getting items from jersey pockets and get in the way of the behind-the-back hand signals we use. -

That's a really good point @SamB - we need to have access to jersey pockets for food / pump / tools, etc.
I'm currently using some powerful Lezyne lights at night time - ones that easily clip off during the day. For road cyclists, it's all about minimalism. I do wear reflective clothing though - and would wear something that illuminated if it was light weight enough and didn't interfere with our jersey pockets / hand signals.

Interesting. We need to do some high speed tests then. I would love to get this right, as the idea of a group of tight X's zooming through the dark is very cool.
Thanks for your input Laura and Sam. If you do know any commuter cyclists who would be interested it would be great if you could pass our light their way.
Good luck in all your training and races!

A lot of us here commute by bike, I think there would be some interest from our guys.
I came across your Islington Cycling Club when looking for a cycle club in London - it looks like you guys have a lot of fun.
A friend and I are developing a new kind of bike light. Having fully researched casual cyclists, we now want to see more hard core cyclists think of it (not for racing I imagine). The idea came about after realising that a single point of light doesn't provide nearly enough information. We are making a light that straps over your shoulders or bag and provides drivers with multiple focus points, which allows them to more accurately judge the distance, width and speed of cyclists.
If you are intrigued have quick look at our kickstarter.
Thanks guys, and happy pedalling.
