  • Group Skills is a chance to learn and share our group riding skills so that we can ride together more safely, more sociably and with less effort. This is a great opportunity for current and prospective members to build on skills, especially for those unable to find a place in the Introductory Rides.

If you are a prospective club member, completing this course will allow you to join ICC

We will look at communication skills and formations such as pace line and two up, plus how to pace/lead the ride from the front and rotate being at the front.

Note that we will adjust the level depending on the level of who shows up.

If you know all this, come and share your knowledge and if you don't, come and take advantage of the sharers. Feel free to read our Group Riding Guide beforehand, but is not necessary as we will cover all this during the session:Guide-Updated-August-2020.pdf

If you are new to the club and wish to become a member you will need to complete either a Group skills or an Introduction to Club Cycling training session. Please make yourself known to the ride leader so they can confirm your attendance to our membership manager.

If you wish to attend this session you need to sign up to the ride here on the Islington forum.

Register as a user on the forum (please help us by creating an actual name rather than the default username) then click the 'Yes I'm Attending' button above to confirm your attendance. If you see no places left, it is because the session is full. We do not maintain a waiting list so please keep checking back in case a place becomes available.

Meet in the Regent's Park Inner Circle, at the big gates opposite York Bridge.

  • Hi there, @Zac it seems this session is already full but I would love to come along if there are any drop outs or added places. I’ll probably be doing laps anyway so can swing by last minute if things change.

Who would be the best person to contact or shall I just refresh this page in case? Thanks :)

  • Hey @Becks keep checking back as it is unheard of for there to be no drop-outs. You can subscribe to email notifications to this thread on the top right of the page.

  • Perfect! Thank you

  • Hey, just bumping this thread ahead of tomorrow morning.

    @AdamRowe, @AlexJ123, @amarco, @AshleyVardon, @AussieMatt, @Becks, @ChrisThompson28, @ChristineMaguire, @EmilyM, @Giulia, @Gold_M, @HarryRamis, @Jacob.L, @MihaiC, @MikeCK1, @Paolo-H, @RobbieGJ, @SamanthaSutton, @SofiaAllueva, @SophieH, @Tek, @Yasemin Thanks for signing up and changing your username so we can hopefully get your memberships processed quickly after the event.

@user130709, @user130762, @user99884 you may want to update your username to something a bit more recognisable just to make everything run a little smoother.

I hope you are all excited for our Group Skills session tomorrow morning. Please try and make it on time as it is essential for the safety briefing, but there is no need to come early.

If you are no longer able to make it can you please click "Can't make it" at the top of the page. As this will open up your spot and allow others to join. Demand for this ride is quite high and so if you reserve a spot but fail to attend we reserve the right to limit your attendance in the future.

Have a great time, we look forward to welcoming you to the club.

  • Thanks @SallyB, just updated. Looking forward!

  • Looking forward to tomorrow, I think my username may have defaulted to my email but my name is Nagla :)

  • Thanks for the session today and looking forward to be a member! Is it possible to participate to the Sunday ride tomorrow? Can't see the group where to sign in (guess because I am not a member yet?)

  • How does it work now? I am registered but havent paid etc, so will we receive an email or do you have to do something elde?

  • @AlessandroSc usually it takes a few days for membership to get processed, you'll then receive a welcome email with info on signing up for rides, collecting kit, etc.

@ChristineMaguire you now need to sign up and pay before anything elserofile/2040/islington-cycling-club

  • I've tried to register but it is not letting me? Is the site down?

  • hi everyone!
I have attended the group skills on the 11th of July but then I have been abroad so I haven't completed my registration.
Shall I register now or do I have to attend to another group skill?
    thanks! :)
can't wait to join the club!

  • Hi @Giulia you have still join. We allow a 6 month period between completing GS and joining before requiring having to re-attend a session.

  • that's amazing! I will join asap!
