Hi Zac, I would love to join the club, I see the Group Skills events before the 9 of June are full and this is the first one I managed to book! Besides booking my place here in the forum, is there anything else I need to do?
Have a skim through the group riding guide if you fancy it, otherwise, no! Just turn up on the day and the ride leaders will explain the session and the next steps in person.
Hope to see you on the road soon!
5 more spots have just been added to this Saturday's Group Skills session if you want to get involved sooner https://forum.islington.cc/events/5792/
Hi Zac - I am fairly new, but committed, to cycling and currently building up some fitness ahead of joining an introductory ride (where i saw 40km @ 20kmh was the requirement). Am comfortable running 7.5-10km twice a week but am building up on the bike which is surprisingly different especially with hills!
I have registered for this as keen to become a member so i can see how the club works and join some rides in the near future. Can i confirm this session doesn't have the same requirements as the intro ride (seems more educational but i wasn't 100% sure if it included a ride as well)? If so i will see you then!
Will do! Thanks
I managed to join last week, leave my spot free if anyone wants to take it!
Hi All, If Giacomo's space is still free I would love to join this session?
Hi all, there is still space on our Group Skills session tomorrow evening if you are able to make it https://forum.islington.cc/events/5793/
Hi, can you let me know if anyone drops out for the 9th? Been trying to get a spot for ages! thanks
Hello would love to grab a spot if someone is dropping please let me know !
Keen to join if a spot becomes available, I'll keep an eye on it.
@LizzieGo6, @GiuseppeG and @Loic seems that there is now an open spot for one person.
Hi @calumwallace @Christoph @CraigW @DuncanL @EllenR @EricB @HarrietB @Helene_B @Jade.E @Manuela75 @ManuelRios @marco @MRowe @Oliver_Dean @SazMac @SteveWatson @SueTicquet @user118581 @user128602 @XanderBeer
I hope you are all excited for our Group Skills session tomorrow evening. Please try and make it on time as it is essential for the safety briefing, but there is no need to come early.
If you are no longer able to make it can you please click "Can't make it" at the top of the page. As this will open up your spot and allow others to join. Demand for this ride is quite high and so if you reserve a spot but fail to attend we reserve the right to limit your attendance in the future.
Let me know if you have any questions and looking forward to welcoming you tomorrow.
@user118581 @user128602 Would you please be able to update you forum username to something a bit more human. This will help greatly with managing attendance and membership processing. Thanks.
Hi all, I have to work again late today, I am destined to miss these skill sessions. I will
Book on the next one. Have a lovely ride in this gorgeous weather. Sue
Thanks for the nudge - all booked in now!
Thanks a lot it was really nice
Yes, thanks all was great to meet everyone
Please add me to the Group cycling session. I want to join the ICC asap.
Group Skills is a chance to learn and share our group riding skills so that we can ride together more safely, more sociably and with less effort. This is a great opportunity for current and prospective members to build on skills, especially for those unable to find a place in the Introductory Rides.
If you are a prospective club member, completing this course will allow you to join ICC
We will look at communication skills and formations such as pace line and two up, plus how to pace/lead the ride from the front and rotate being at the front.
Note that we will adjust the level depending on the level of who shows up.
If you know all this, come and share your knowledge and if you don't, come and take advantage of the sharers. Feel free to read our Group Riding Guide beforehand, but is not necessary as we will cover all this during the session: https://islington.cc/s/ICC-Group-Riding-Guide-Updated-August-2020.pdf
If you are new to the club and wish to become a member you will need to complete either a Group skills or an Introduction to Club Cycling training session. Please make yourself known to the ride leader so they can confirm your attendance to our membership manager.
HOW DO I JOIN IN?
If you wish to attend this session you need to sign up to the ride here on the Islington forum.
Register as a user on the forum (please help us by creating an actual name rather than the default username) then click the 'Yes I'm Attending' button above to confirm your attendance. If you see no places left, it is because the session is full. We do not maintain a waiting list so please keep checking back in case a place becomes available.
Meet in the Regent's Park Inner Circle, at the big gates opposite York Bridge.
