Hi Fran,
As I gather, it should be fine to come along to a Sunday ride (tomorrow) before the intro ride. This was suggested to me when I first found the club in the summer. The club does try to ensure that there will be at least one, gentler "C" ride, group suitable for prospective members to join.
The wintry conditions may, however, mean a smaller bunch of us at Whittington Park tomorrow. I'm not aware of any specific "C" ride planned for tomorrow, but, if the prospect of rain doesn't scare off too many, then I do think I won't be alone in looking for something fairly modest. So I reckon there's a good chance that you would be able to easily fit in with a group.
Perhaps someone else could post here if they have anything in particular planned.
Hopefully see you tomorrow.

I'd suggest that clips are not at all a necessity for the intro ride, or for many other club rides.
On the intro ride there may be some opportunity for pushing along a bit - perhaps up a hill, but, as an introduction to riding with other club riders, clips/cleats probably won't offer much of an advantage on the speed & power front. I think that being comfortable & confident are most important, and if that happens to be with clips/cleats, then go that way (and not if you're more comfortable without them).
I switched to cleats only recently, and, as much as I like them, I often prefer commuting without being clipped-in in any way.

@Martine I can make it for some Saturdays and Sundays, but not until the last weekend in Aug. It'd be nice to join you (ICC) for a weekend ride, but might catch you before then.
Maybe pop out towards Tufnell park/Highgate today if I get away quick - see how long it takes.

@Martine, Ta for the reply. I had noticed, in another thread, @lindsam ask about groups for today's ride and was wondering whether that might mean there'd be a ride (more) suitable for non-club riders.
I also wondered about how promptly people might depart. If there happened to be groups forming later than 18:30 I might be able to catch one. Wouldn't want anyone to wait for me - not even sure how long it'd take me to get to Whittington Park.
Will definitely aim for an introductory ride when I can make it.

Hi all,
I'm a prospective member and was hoping to catch some of you on an introductory weekend ride (hopefully Sept. if the introductory ride is the weekend of 12-13th) or similar.
I would probably be capable of a modest pace, C or maybe B, and could get up to Whittington Park on a nice Tuesday/Wednesday (like today), but not by 6:30, more like 7 - with a prompt departure from work. If it's not too much of a rush, and a modest sort of ride wants another member, I could try to zoom North rather than out to Dynamo Country.

At the Mosquito trainer demo evening, there was a chap who spoke about his "Stealth" sports nutrition brand. He described the article. It seems like what was found was pretty much as you describe: if you choose fast food items that provide the same nutrition as you might find in a sports product, you get the same results.
I doubt this is garbage. Looking past the headlines it's not too hard to see that there's no real health comparison. There is though, I think, some dispelling of the idea that special products provide lots more than can be achieved through other means.
I found a quote apparently from one of the authors of the study:
"A lot of the articles out there are totally misrepresenting the study," he said. "We had participants eating small servings of the fast-food products, not giant orders of burgers and fries. Moderation is the key to the results we got."
'course, with the 4-up TTT in mind, I'd suggest that swift teams should go with pre-race giant orders of burgers and fries (kg rather than g).
