Hey there!
I'm tagging @EvaJ and @aidan in this post who should be able to answer your first question as ICC's welfare 👮🏽 officers!
We would ask that your first ride is an intro ride (first Saturday of each month and you can sign up in advance on the forum) then you can go out based on pace once you're sorted with group skills- 25kph would probably be a B pace group.
I would ask @Sir_Shannonball if he has any advice on development as he does a lot with youth and potentially has advice on racing? @RobV may also have advice?
We currently don't have an official set up for cx - more the interested people sorting their own racing and riding over the winter- we have thought we might run a cx taster next winter though.
Hope that helps!
Let us know if you have any more questions and if the people above don't get back to you soon!

Hey @RobPhillips
Soo you need to come and join an intro ride- they run first Saturday of every month- and give us the chance to make sure you're familiar with the group riding skills and hand signals etc you'll need.
There is one this Saturday but looks like it's full-keep an eye for a last minute place if there's a drop out or alternatively get signed up for the one in November which should be posted on Thursday/Friday this week.
Good luck and let us know if we can help further!

Hey @tb welcome to the club! Have you been out with an intro ride or an 8am saturday regents park session yet? We usually ask new members to attend one of these first so we can ensure they are aware of the safety aspects of riding in a group - the next intro ride will be the start of september. If you have already done so or are an experienced group rider then yes there's a ride leaving WP at 6:30 on thursday- we try to split down into groups of different speeds as long as there are enough leaders! let us know if you have any more questions! :)
p.s you can sign up for the intro ride here: https://forum.islington.cc/events/2091/#comment13163023

Hey @Stephanie!
Look further up this thread and you should get your answer.
The next intro ride is this Saturday https://forum.islington.cc/events/1967/ but I think it's full- keep an eye on the page as usually someone drops out and you can press 'yes I'm attending' at the top.
If not you can attend the ride in Regent's Park meeting 8am at the zoo- just tell someone you're new and they can help you pick the right paced group to ride with. Following laps it's coffee at the cafe in the inner circle!
Let me know if you have any more questions- I'm women's rep if you need any help!

Sounds good! Look for Jennifer with long bright red hair! If you just turn up and introduce yourself that should be fine :)
The idea of their ride just to warn you is to push the pace- if you drop off its no problem- just keep going round then meet up again at the zoo at 8am if there's still gas in the tank- if not coffee! :)
If you join up to the club let me know and I'll add you to the ladies whatsapp.

So the women are planning a 7am Regent's Park fast training laps meeting at the zoo on Saturday, or if not then slightly more sociable time and pace at 8am where there will be several groups of different pace! I'm sure there will be a few girls hanging around for the 8am laps followed by coffee so defs turn up and let them know you're new to teach you the hand signals etc- then you can choose which group to go with! Alternatively as Alex said the intro ride usually gets drop outs and there should be two girls helping with that :)
Let us know how you get on!

Hey Harriet!
Well done on Ride London! We're getting the women's contingent more and more involved so there's plenty of people to ride with- we actually have our own part of the forum now too!
I'm one of the women's reps (the other is @SarahH who's in charge of racing) so if you have any questions fire hem my way!
Having a ladies social on 6th September if you do join and want to join us.
Hope to see you soon!

Hey Layla!
Welcome! I'm +Ceci one of the ladies reps. We are hoping to run quarterly ladies rides (dates to be arranged) although today was the rapha ladies 100km so was a bit of an exception. If you send me your number via private message I can add you to the ladies whatsapp thread and might help arrange a few steadier rides-there are also ladies threads on the forum you can follow to see what's going on. We're having a ladies social on the 26th July on Highbury fields for a BBQ so come meet some girls to ride with!
Hope you see you there :)Ceci
